The Search Page
Previous Top Next

Searching: When you open Autoget you are greeted with the search page. From here you can search all your selected channels and then request them or add them to your waiting list. You can also see in the second listbox at the bottom all of the people who responded to your search with more results than they are willing to display. Double-clicking in the top list will request the file. Double-clicking in the bottom list will request the persons list.

Filtering Results: You can also search within your search results by typing in the string to filter by and then clicking the filter button. Other buttons allow you to request the highlighted file or get the list associated with the highlighted line. These and other options are also available by rightclicking in either listbox.

Auto-Complete: After you have searched a few times you'll notice that Autoget will attempt to autocomplete your searches. I was really happy to finally get this feature working but realize that it's hand made and even though I tried to make it behave exactly like you'd expect it isn't quite there yet so don't freak out if it behave a little differently than you're used to.

Pop-Up Menus: On the search page most functions are accessible from pop-up menus. There are several commands whose function is obvious and others not so much so. Others are repeated throughout Autoget no matter where you right click.

· Request: This will immediately request the selected file.
· Add To Waiting: This will add the selected file to your waiting list. To download it you'll have to double-click on atleast one file from the same person to get things moving.
· Get/View List: Assuming you have Autoget installed this command will either open the list if you already have it or request it and open it once it's done downloading.
· Update List: Again via Autoget, this command will delete the current list you have from the person and download the latest copy.
· Stats: If you have Keeptrack installed you'll be able to open a dialog showing all the files you have recieved from and sent to the selected person. Also available in the dialog are server stats retrieved from the server and totals of downloaded and uploaded files. See the Stats section for more.
· Whois: This command performs a whois on the selected person and displays the results in a dialog. This is a good way to check if a person is actually online and what channels they are in.
